Submitted by zaper on Sat, 26/06/2010 - 13:26
The hydrops in our baby was diagnosed at 20 week ultrasound.
All tests for infection and amnio came back normal.
His heart beat was good at 150 till the time of death at 28 weeks.
We have a healthy daughter but this is second baby boy we have lost to hydrops.
I am interested in talking to parents who have lost baby boys about what were diagnosis if any and how to go ahead for the future.
Thanks

Hi Zaper,
Very sorry to hear of your losses, it's really tragic when hydrops stikes - especially twice. Welcome to the forums... I'm sure you can find support here. Where are you from? Please let us know as there may be other members who live near you. You can edit your profile my selecting the "my account" link at the top of the right column when you are logged in.
I lost my baby boy Lennox who had hydrops and now I'm the father of a healthy lil girl called Miya :) The diagnosis was not properly determined... they suspected a heart problem but the pathologists were not very qualified or sure of their guesses. I really wanted to know because it's some kind of closure when you know the cause - but in many cases parents can never find out.

I did not lose a baby boy but I lost a baby girl at 28 weeks - she was born still at 29 weeks. It was similar to your loss in that I went to the dr at 27 weeks and the heartbeat was fine. they did not do an untrasound then but theydid do one at 20 weeks and everything wasfine. So, I am confused as to what happened just like you. It seems like it just happened but the dr. said that it had been progrssing for a couple of months. hydrops does not just appear. My baby girl daniela had hydrops of the brain, heart and lungs. so, did the dr. tell you why there were no symptoms? My only symptom was that I was HUGE.
We also never knew the cause - all the test came back negative. Did the drs give you a reason for the 2nd hydrops. In everything I have read it is so rare anyway that to have it twicw - I just cannot imagine. I am praying for your family.

Thanks Dan and Chalvara
We still dont know the cause of second hydrops. They even did genetic micro-array for genetic defects but that was also normal.
Dan, i really appreciate that the time you are giving to this forum.
I did like one feature of the previous forum as there you could email to any person and then communicate as some one might not check the forum regularly.
Is there any way you can add that feature ?
I am specifically interested in talking to the following member as she has lost three baby boys.

Dan,
Thanks for your prompt response.
I have tried the link, but it is not working and i get the message Access Denied : "You are not authorized to access this page."
Member profile page is also totally blank.
May be this is something to do with member permissions.
Hope you can look into it.
